World 9-Ball Championship 2015

I felt pretty good at the World Pool Masters after a nice 8-3 win over Nikos Ekonomopoulos in round 1. Played ok in the quarterfinals against Mark Gray, even though I missed 2 balls and misjudged 2 safeties. Leading 6-3 with an open table, I should have gone on the hill, but unfortunately I missed the one ball and never got to shoot again. I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

Tough opening match in the 2015 WPA World 9-ball Championship against former # 1 and current World 8-Ball Champion Chang Jung Lin from Chinese Taipei tomorrow at 14:00 local time. Watch it all live and for free here:

As predicted it was a tough opener into the World Championship with a 9-8 thriller over Chang Jung-Lin. After a good start with a 4-0 lead I scratched 3 times in a row and soon it was 4-4. Found back into the game until I missed a fairly easy 9-Ball at 6-5. Being down 7-8 it didn’t look good but I managed to win the last 2 games with tough outs to cross the finish line first. Next match is on Monday at noon against Mateusz Śniegocki from Polen.

Lost my second match 1-9 and don`t even feel that I have played at all. To make it short: 2 kick shots with bad outcomes, two breaks without making a ball, two scratches on the break and 1 bad safety after a successful break. Before I forget, I made a total of 5 balls after my opponent snookered himself at 6-0. What a crazy game pool can be sometimes. Anyways, Mateusz Śniegocki played well and I have another chance to qualify for the single knock out stages tomorrow at noon against Ali Obaidly from the host nation Qatar.

Made it through to the last 64 with a 9-5 win over Qatari Ali Obaidly. Tomorrow on early shift again against Britain’s Mark Gray. Match will start at 11am local time and can be followed on: live.qbsf.qa/en

Had a tough match today and lost a hill-hill match to Mark Gray. The rolls weren’t on my side I have to say and it could have gone the other way, especially after being up 9-5. Made a couple of bad safety shots though that may have cost the match. Guess I have to practice the break and the safety game even more from now on. Good luck to all the other players still fighting for the title…
